A big tick on the bucket list

I’ve wanted to see the northern lights for a long time & finally achieved the dream late last year.  Blessed with some great weather & clear skies we were treated to what the locals suggested was the best show they had seen for a long time.

My shots didn’t come out the best you will ever see but I have the memories.  My pictures serve as a reminder. 🙂

I’m also getting to grips with Lightroom!!  A recent purchase as Aperture is being updated, I decided it was time for a move.  Big learning curve.  More to follow on this.

Norway 2015 – Flam Waterfall

Flam waterfall

You will have gathered that Norway was last years trip & it was a truly stunning country.  The views at every turn were just amazing.

This particular day we decided to take the famous Flam Railway all the way to the top passing the Kjosfossen Waterfall en route.  The scene was amazing but even better was the fact that the train stops on the way back down for you to actually get out & see it close up.

With the snow melting it made the waterfall even more dramatic & as you can see from this shot you had zero chance of staying dry.  The family took an early shower!!

Oporto Harbour

I’m finally on a roll & finding time to get stuck into the photos again. Returning from holiday, new job & so much to do at home has left me missing the camera & my trusty Mac. We are reunited again & I’ve spent a good few hours today going through all of my recent pictures.

I’m starting tonight on Oporto, in Portugal, stop one on our cruise last month. This hot was taken early in the morning & the light was terrible, but I just love the portfolio of shots I have of a harbour shot at every stop. Over the years I have collected loads. Its certainly the most beautiful harbour in the world, but its part of the collection.

I played with the settings & settled on this sepia image in the end. I love the old world look that it gives.
